A Late Night; An Early Morning

After hanging out at Evelyn’s last night (till closing, might I add), I went back to my hostel after the uneventful evening.

At the hostel, my roommates slept early, so I had to be extra quiet and careful while I changed my clothes and brushed my teeth. The next morning, I woke up very early (at around 7AM) as I usually do when I travel. Maybe it’s just me, but I feel like I’m missing out so much on the day when I don’t wake up early. -.-”

After getting up and taking a shower, I headed out to a nearby café called Whitebark Cafe. It’s the only “hipster” cafe in Banff, and as such, it’s a hit with locals & tourists. The line was long but I stayed inside to do my devotion.

Part of the reason why I wanted to go to Banff was to delve deeper and deeper in the Bible, and I’m glad I was able to that this morning. 🙂

Getting my coffee fix at Whitebark, I headed to Downtown Banff to catch the beautiful sunrise. The morning was gorgeous with blue skies and wisps of white clouds! It feels like a very optimistic day!

I headed down to another cafe (as part of my cafe hopping experience in Banff) called “Little Wild by Wild Flour” along Banff Avenue. The shop was small and quaint, but comfortable and quiet.

I sat by the window because there’s just something so relaxing about drinking coffee and people-watching. Now that’s something I would do when I’m in Europe! 🙂

A Surprise Visit

At around 1PM, several of my friends from Calgary visited me in Banff just to hang out for the day. It’s a beautiful day, so why not? 😛

We decided to go to the Banff Upper Hot Springs near the Banff Gondola during this visit. I’ve never been here, but it’s a quite popular destination for tourists to Banff. It’s the perfect time to go since it’s now colder out!

Surprisingly, the hot springs wasn’t as full as I thought it would be, but I’m not complaining. I reckon it’s because the vacation season is over for most tourists, as it is early October.

After taking a soak for an hour or so at the Banff Upper Hot Springs, we headed down back to Downtown Banff to find something to eat. All that soaking in the hot pool can get pretty tiring for some reason, even when you’re just sitting there.

It was at Skoki’s where we decided to have a late lunch/early dinner. I had the vegetarian crepe, which was a tad too salty for my taste but it did the job.

My friends, being the food-lovers that they also are, had Beavertails for dessert. It is such an icon in Banff, and you cannot leave without having this at least once during your stay!

When in Banff, you MUST go shopping—or in our case, window-shopping! First up was Spirit of Christmas, the only shop in Banff that sells Christmas paraphernalia year-round; expect Christmas trees and (fake) snow year-long! 😀

There were also a few malls we walked around in before sitting down for a bit. We didn’t do anything strenuous that day, but we were in legit idle-mode…perhaps due to postprandial somnolence (aka Itis)?

The sun was starting to set at the time so it was time to part ways, but not before snapping some photos in the heaps of yellow leaves on the ground. Thanks again to my friends for visiting me in Banff!

Relaxed Evening

After my friends left, I wanted a relaxed evening. My idea of a “relaxed evening” differs from what others may consider relaxed. As an extroverted introvert, I often require down time for myself. One of my favourite ways to relax is hanging out in a cafe, people-watching and doing some blogging, which is something I love to do.

I decided to go to my favourite cafe (so far), Evelyn’s Coffee Bar. The cafe is quiet and it has lots of outlets, Wifi and it’s open late! I stayed in the cafe until closing, and made my way back to my hostel.
