The District Starbucks is My New Favourite Starbucks

While Starbucks is a chain cafe, I have very fond memories of it because it was Starbucks that introduced me to different types of coffee, and different ways of preparing coffee. Also, you can’t escape it because Starbucks is everywhere! While coffee could be the same in each Starbucks, the service and atmosphere could widely vary between locations. The District Starbucks is a great location with very clean facilities and friendly staff.

This Starbucks was basically empty, save for a few customers. Each table has a dedicated power outlet, so it’s a perfect place to do some typing or even study. You can sit and read if you like, without being interrupted by loud music or chatter. I bought my go-to order, the classic black, no-room americano. The staff were friendly and promptly gave me my drink. As always, it was tasty and needed no cream/milk or sugar.

The cafe was quiet and was very easy to relax. Patio seating is also available if that’s your cup of tea. From there, you can get a nice view of the overlooking hill and Nose Creek nearby. If you’re looking for a Starbucks to study or catch up with friends, look no further. The District Starbucks is my new favourite location!

Recommended? Maybe, but only if you’re in the area.

COST: Normal. Prices are the same as any other Starbucks. Expect to pay around $3 – $6 for a large (Venti) drink in Starbucks. A Venti americano costs about $4.

TASTE: Okay. Starbucks is a chain cafe, so their drinks are standardized. My go-to drink at any Starbucks is their classic americano because it’s not too bitter or too sour by itself. Lattes are okay since there is no foam in them. Frappuccinos are too sweet and icy, and barely has any taste of coffee in them.

ACCESSIBILITY: Difficult. The District Starbucks is far from any LRT stations. There also aren’t any bus stops nearby because this is a newly developed area. You can only get here if you have a car, or if you take a taxi. That said, there are many parking spots. If you’re not living nearby in the NE or NW, then it’s not worth the journey to this Starbucks location.

ATMOSPHERE: Very nice. I love the mood and atmosphere here. The design is very nice and could actually pass off as an independent cafe. There are a lot of seats and power outlets for your laptop, should you need it. You can meet up with friends and not worry if you’ll be able to grab a table or not. Also, unlike a lot of other Starbucks, this location is very well maintained.

SERVICE: 8/10. The staff were very friendly and welcoming at this Starbucks location. Perhaps it’s because they’re not overloaded with so many orders, but they were really nice and patient.
