Rosso Coffee Roasters Ramsay is the OG Rosso location in Calgary, and it’s still as awesome as the other locations!
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: cafés are my favourite hangouts. Whenever I travel, I always go to cafés to chill, hang out, people-watch and drink coffee!
This Rosso location is quite near the Inglewood location, but it’s more isolated in the community. From the outside, it looks very industrial, especially since there’s a factory building (?) behind it. I love the patio setting out front, with all the colourful chairs and sun roof—a great place to hang out in the summer months!
Inside, there are lot of tables and seats available, and a few outlets if you need to do some work. I came here on a Sunday morning, and it was still empty! While it doesn’t have the more “relaxing” seating options (aka sofa), it’s still very relaxed and comfortable.
The baristas were super friendly and there was this one barista who was super cheerful and upbeat! I love her energy! I ordered an americano, my go-to for a quick pick-me-up, and got to work quickly. 😀
The original Rosso is an awesome place to hangout, especially if you want to escape the crowds you see in other cafes. P.S. If you get here before 11AM, it’s really quiet and you’ll have the whole place to yourself! 😀
Recommended? Yes!
COST: Moderate. Prices for drinks are moderate here, just as you would find in other cafes. For a large espresso-based drink, expect to pay around $5. Sandwiches are ~$5 – $7.
TASTE: Good. Coffee is always great at Rosso! I ordered an americano, which is excellent, not too bitter or sour. I really like their iced soy latte as well, but it is more expensive than usual.
ACCESSIBILITY: Difficult. This Rosso location isn’t close to any C-Train station, so driving is your best bet to get here. Parking is plenty in the front. Some buses service the area; however, buses aren’t as reliable as driving.
ATMOSPHERE: Nice. Rosso’s ambience is always very cozy and welcoming. While this location doesn’t have the extra seating options like a sofa or armchair, it’s still comfortable. There are a lot of tables and outlets to do your work, and you can also chill outside on the patio on a nice day!
SERVICE: 8/10. The baristas are super friendly, and super welcoming! I have never had a bad experience with Rosso’s service whatsoever.
