Posh Italian Coffee at Caffe Trieste

Caffe Trieste serves decent coffee with a great view in The Core!

Caffe Trieste at The Core.

The entrance to this café looked very fancy, complete with a red carpet and chandeliers! Then you’re greeted with the front counter, friendly staff and their display of freshly baked goods. Here, you place your order. 🙂

Front counter.

However, when you exit the other side, you become disillusioned and you’re back to the mall! The seating area of Caffe Trieste is actually open to the mall, but there are dedicated tables, seats and even decor for the café.

I did like the big window to the side, with a panoramic view of south downtown & 4th Street below. If you come at the right time in the evening (probably during winter), you might even be able to catch a gorgeous sunset (like we did).

Seating area is open to the mall, but the view is lovely.

I ordered the almond milk latte, and my friend ordered the cappuccino. The coffee was pretty good, but with most almond milk-based espresso drinks, it was watery (no complaints there). The service was slow at the time, but I think it’s because they just hired new staff and were still learning the ropes.

Almond latte per favore!
INCEPTION O.O

Coffee is good, décor is awesome, and service may be a bit slow. Overall, it’s a good café to visit, especially if you’re in The Core and want a place to chill and sit down for a while. Next time, I shall try their food!

Love their walls with pictures of Italia! 😀

Recommended? Yes.

COST: Moderate.  Prices for drinks are moderate here, just as you would find in other cafes. For a large espresso-based drink, expect to pay around $5. Meals are about $6 – $10.

TASTE: Good. Their coffee is very good, and my almond latte was pretty tasty (albeit watery—as most almond-based drinks are). Next time, I shall try their food!

ACCESSIBILITY: Easy. Caffe Trieste is located in The Core, so it’s highly accessible. 1st Street station is connected, and there is a parkade in the mall basement.

ATMOSPHERE: Nice. The entrance of the café was posh with a red carpet, but the seating area is actually open to the mall. The upside is that there is a big window with a vast view of downtown.

SERVICE: 8/10. While it’s mostly a self-serve café, the staff were quite friendly. The staff was a bit slow, but I think it’s because they were doing training.

Italian coffee machines are awesome!
