Rosso Coffee Roasters on 17th Ave is the newest Rosso location in Calgary, with its doors opened in December of 2016. As always, expect great coffee and an awesome space!
I must say, Rosso Coffee Roasters has become one of my favourite local cafes here in Calgary. Their aggressive push to expand to other locations over the past has been really successful in my opinion.
All the Rosso locations I’ve visited so far are awesome cafes, with the same great coffee and relaxed space. And this Rosso location on 17th Avenue is no different.
After drinking our fill of wine at Winefest 2017, my friend and I decided to visit the newly Rosso location near the Stampede grounds to sober up for a bit. It was about 4PM in the afternoon when we walked in the cafe. And no, we are not drunkards drinking in the early afternoon—best believe we had our fill of free wine at Winefest.
I ordered an americano (a best bet for sobering up), and my friend ordered their hot chocolate. Coffee is delicious, and was the hot chocolate! And as with the other locations, the coffee comes with a postcard about where the beans originated from…I love that whimsicality!
The cafe is very spacious, and with lots of tables & seats to accommodate you! The interior design is simple but relaxed. I especially love the big windows that let the sunshine into the space! It’s a great place for laptop work (lots of outlets), study sessions or even social meetups!
Rosso Coffee Roasters on 17th Ave is an awesome space for great coffee, for work sessions, and/or good conversations with friends!
Recommended? Yes!
COST: Moderate. Prices for drinks are moderate here, just as you would find in other cafes. For a large espresso-based drink, expect to pay around $5. Sandwiches are ~$5 – $7.
TASTE: Good. Rosso Coffee Roasters is one of my favourite local roasters in Calgary. Coffee is always great! The food may be a bit overpriced for some, but I have no complaints about coffee.
ACCESSIBILITY: Easy. This Rosso location is in the eastern side of 17th Avenue, which is a bit outside the central 17th Avenue area. However, it is very close to the Stampede grounds and the Victoria Park/Stampede station (3 minutes by foot).
ATMOSPHERE: Very nice. The cafe is big & spacious, spanking new, clean, not overly loud, and still feels cozy. There are a lot of seating available, and I could literally spend hours just working here!
SERVICE: 8/10. Service at Rosso is great. The cafe has really friendly baristas, and they’ll serve you the order! 🙂
