Hipster Hangout at Rosso Coffee Roasters Inglewood

Rosso Coffee Roasters Inglewood is a cool hangout in one of the hippest neighbourhoods in Calgary, with great coffee and an awesome ambiance!

Inglewood is one of the first districts of Calgary, if not the oldest district in the city. Some of the buildings still maintain their brick facades, and there are even old barns from the past in the area! Since then, Inglewood has become an arts, music, culture, shopping and hipster mecca in the city.

Rosso Coffee Roasters opened its doors at Inglewood in 2016, and quickly became a hangout for hipsters, yuppies and like-minded & coffee-loving people. Very hip, going and energetic!

We arrived at Rosso at around 2PM on a weekday afternoon after eating at Ensira Ethiopian Restaurant. I think it’s now a habit of mine to drink coffee after a meal, a bit like the Koreans.

The cafe wasn’t extremely busy, but it was still active as I would assume (since it is Inglewood). I’ve visited the Rosso location on Stephen Avenue before, so I would guess that this location would be more or less similar.

My friend ordered the cappuccino, which also came with a small postcard with a view…so whimsical! I ordered an americano, because I feel that it aids in digestion (maybe it’s true, maybe it’s not). I love my espressos!

I love the three areas of seating, each with a different purpose and energy level: the plug-and-play area for working and eating, the corner table for quiet working, and the couch area for casual meets. It’s awesome that the owners thought of these seemingly minuscule details!

The cafe is very spacious, and with lots of tables & seats! And I’m not complaining about the interior design and decor! The baristas are also very friendly! 🙂

If you like hipster cafes, Rosso Coffee Roasters in Inglewood is an awesome one for you!

Gotta love the wall design!

Recommended? Yes!

COST: Moderate. Prices for drinks are moderate here, just as you would find in other cafes. For a large espresso-based drink, expect to pay around $5. Sandwiches are ~$5 – $7.

TASTE: Good. Rosso Coffee Roasters is one of my favourite roasters in Calgary. Coffee is always great, and my friend loved their cappuccino! The food may be a bit overpriced for some, but coffee is always great.

ACCESSIBILITY: Moderate. This Rosso location is located in Inglewood, which is a bit outside downtown. Buses service the neighbourhood, but driving is the best way to get here. Parking is limited mostly to curbside.

ATMOSPHERE: Very nice. I love the artsy & hipster vibe at Rosso! I also love the three seating areas, each with a different ambiance! The cafe is lively but not overly loud, and spacious but still comfortable. There are a lot of seating available, and the interior design and decor is awesome!

SERVICE: 8/10. Service at Rosso is great. The cafe has really friendly baristas, and they’ll serve you the order! 🙂

Hanging out at Rosso!
