REGRUB (RE:GRUB) is a small eatery along the Beltline that is quite famous for their extreme milkshakes with crazy toppings!
So, this restaurant’s name is puzzling to me. Their website title is #REGRUB, they refer to themselves as RE:GRUB, the restaurant says RE:GЯUB, and their Facebook page says REGRUB. WHICH IS IT??
We came to REGRUB on a Monday evening to eat an early dinner, and it wasn’t too busy at the time. Perhaps because it was a Monday, or that it was still winter, or that people were still at work?
I ordered the Veggievore burger (veggie burger), and my friends ordered the Recessions Buster burger & salted caramel popcorn milkshake. That’s the only vegan item on the menu (besides the fries). My burger was just okay, but also not terrible; I’ve tasted much better veggie burgers in Calgary.
While they are famous for their milkshakes, some of my other friends (who have been here before) agree that the milkshakes could be a bit too much. Either physically too much or just too much sweetness in one drink.
REGRUB is a casual eatery, and is a place to quickly catch your burger and milkshake. Because there aren’t a lot of seating, I wouldn’t say it’s not a place to hang out, but it’s a great eatery for a casual date or a quick lunch with friends. The decor is awesome though! I love the industrial-inspired furniture and decorations!
If you want to experience an extreme milkshake or just craving some classic burgers & fries, come to REGRUB. Otherwise, the food is mediocre at best. You can get better (and cheaper) burgers and fries elsewhere.
Recommended? Maybe.
COST: Moderate. Prices at RE:GRUB won’t break the bank, but it could add up, especially if you go for a combo. For a milkshake, expect to pay ~$5 – $9. For the burgers, prices vary between $7 – $16.
TASTE: Okay. My Veggievore burger was so-so, and definitely not my favourite. My friend, however, enjoyed her Recession Buster burger very much! The milkshakes are huge and quite filling (and diabetic) even by themselves.
ACCESSIBILITY: Moderate. REGRUB is located along 11th Avenue on the Beltline. Buses frequent the area, and it is about ~8 minutes by foot from The Core Shopping Centre. Parking is limited to curbside, so be wary.
ATMOSPHERE: Nice. The restaurant isn’t very big, but there are a lot of seating. It can be quite packed at peak times (such as weekends & happy hour). During the summer months, the patio is also open. The decor is industrial/hipster-inspired, which I totally dig!
SERVICE: 8/10. The servers and cashiers are friendly, but service might slow down if the restaurant is packed.

[…] TASTE: Good. My mughlai veg naan rola was really delicious! I loved the complex mix of flavours in that dish—sweet, tangy, salty and a bit spicy! My friend had the Korean stone bowl stir fry, which she liked (though not as much as I did for my main). For starter, we had the veggie soup (it was okay) and macaroni Makhani (she said it was good). For dessert, my friend had the Berry Crush milkshake, which she enjoyed but couldn’t finish. She found it surprising that the milkshake wasn’t too sweet like the other over-the-top milkshakes in town (RE:GRUB)! […]
